Nanaimo RCMP are seeking witnesses after an 87-year-old woman suffered serious injuries in a car crash that happened in the Bowen Road and Dufferin Crescent area earlier this week.

According to a press release, the incident happened on Dec. 1 at 6 a.m. at the intersection of Bowen Road and Dufferin Crescent and involved the woman’s red 2012 Nissan Versa and a silver 2012 Nissan Xterra, which had an Alberta licence plate and was being driven by a 23-year-old man. Police believe the Xterra was headed south on Bowen Road when its driver turned left in front of the Versa, which was travelling northbound on Bowen Road.

The woman suffered “significant injuries” and was taken by B.C. Emergency Health Services to hospital, where she remains, the press release said. The man only suffered minor injuries.

“Given the time of the day and location of the collision, investigators believe there may have been several witnesses to the collision, and investigators would like to speak with them,” Const. Gary O’Brien, Nanaimo RCMP spokesman, said in a press release.

If you have information on the incident, please call Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345 and cite file number 2018-44093.
