Hundreds of fresh fish are ready to take the bait for Nanaimo’s urban anglers after local lakes were stocked this week.
The Freshwater Fisheries Society of B.C. stopped by Colliery Dam Park on Thursday, Oct. 11, with a truckload of trout.
Students from John Barsby Secondary School, Claro Learning Centre and members of Vancouver Island Fishing for Fun Society turned out to take part in the release of about 500 catchable trout weighing about 225 grams each at Colliery Dam Lake No. 1.
Colliery Dam Lakes No. 2 and No. 3 were also stocked with 500 trout each and all three lakes will be stocked two more times this fall.
