The Naramata fire chief is expected to be back on the job sometime in the New Year.
Karla Kozakevich, chair of the Regional District Okanagan-Similkameen confirmed in an email statement that Tony Travao, the chief of the Naramata Volunteer Fire Department, was expected to be reinstated in January.

“The Board of Directors did meet on Thursday, December 20 and as this is an internal personnel matter, it is our policy not to discuss these personnel matters publicly. The Board of Directors is working towards a positive outcome with the intent of the Chief’s reinstatement in January,” she wrote.

Travao was suspended with pay on Oct. 22, two days after the municipal election. The suspension stems from a formal written complaint received at the RDOS about Trovao’s behaviour, which alleges he is in contravention of bullying and harassment policies at the RDOS and Worksafe BC. A private contractor was hired to investigate these written complaints.
No specific date of Travao’s reinstatement was provided.
