There’s a new doctor practicing in Clearwater.

Dr. Ola Bamigboji arrived in August and said she moved so she could be closer to family, bringing her experience from the Prairie town of Davidson, Saskatchewan.

“My husband has been here and we’ve just been looking for a way we could be together and it’s finally worked out, that’s the main reason I’m here, now we can all be together,” she said.

Bamigboji had her medical training in Nigeria before coming to Canada to do her Canadian exams and receiving a Master’s Degree in Public Health.

She said she got into medicine because she’s wanted to help people since she was a child and being a doctor fit that requirement.

“I didn’t know there was a profession called medicine, but I just wanted to help; then eventually as I grew up I had appointments at the hospital and I saw doctors, and I was like, ‘Okay, there are people that help others get better and feel better, I think I want to do this,'” she said.

Since her arrival in the summer she’s been busy unpacking and getting her house in order, she said, giving her little time to explore what the area has to offer, but now she’s excited to taking it all in.

“I’m looking forward to exploring all the waterfalls, beauty and all that’s in town,” she added.

“I’m happy to be here and to be with my family, happy that I got a job and hopefully it’s a good experience.”
