The busy summer driving season is upon us, and motorists travelling through the North and South Thompson region will have two new DriveBC webcams to consult before making their journey.
The new webcams have been installed on Highway 1 at Holloway Drive near Savona, looking west, and on Highway 5 in Little Fort, at the Highway 5/Highway 24 junction, looking north.
“These webcams provide motorists with the most up-to-date information on traffic, weather and road conditions,” says Kamloops-North Thompson MLA Terry Lake. “We want to ensure locals and visitors enjoy safe summertime travels through our beautiful region.”
DriveBC was launched in 2005 and is the Government of B.C.’s most popular website. DriveBC receives an average of 2.9 million visits per month, and there are more than 250 B.C. highway webcams now on the DriveBC network.
“Before hitting the road, check the DriveBC webcams along your route to ensure you’re fully informed of the current road conditions,” says Kamloops-South Thompson MLA and Transportation Minister Todd Stone. “These online tools are a helpful way to prepare for summer road trips and keep motorists safe.”
