Progress is still ongoing at Millennium Park, with some projects completed, some under construction and others still to come.
Tennis and pickleball courts
The new courts are open and being utilized by many. This Sunday, Aug. 14, the city is hosting a free open house/try-it clinic from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Instructors and equipment will be available for anyone who wants to give pickleball a try. On other days, rackets and balls can be rented from the Castlegar Complex.
Bike skills park
The bike skills park is still under construction and the City of Castlegar wants everyone to know that it is closed until all of the construction and signage is complete.
“We want to get that [message] out there because the public has been using it, but until it’s completely finished and has appropriate signage, we just want to make sure people stay off of there,” said Castlegar director of civic works, Chris Barlow.
Volleyball courts
One of the beach volleyball courts is open. Volleyballs can be obtained from the pavilion concession for a small rental fee.
Ponds
Water polo nets will soon be installed in pond No. 2.
Dog Park
The dog park is still under construction with turf and seeding work still needing to be completed, but is expected to open soon.
