New fire engine presented on Monday

Abbotsford Mayor George Peary will receive the keys to Abbotsford Fire Rescue Service’s new fire engine in a presentation on Monday.

The $545,000 Spartan Metro Star was designed and constructed in Abbotsford by Hub Fire Engines and Equipment Ltd. The vehicle is powered by a 425 horsepower diesel engine, pumps 1,750 imperial gallons per minute, and seats up to five firefighters.

The arrival of the new engine will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. on Monday at Thunderbird Memorial Square (off Veterans Way).
