The Good Earth celebrated their grand opening in a new space on December 2.
Fans of the store will notice a new and improved layout in their new location on Sixth Street in the same building as Mugshots Cafe.
Owner Ari Rosen started revamping the space in October, doing a slew of demolitions and renovations. The lease for the old store location was “up by the end of November so that gave me two full months to demo, renovate and move,” Rosen explained.
Even though the space is smaller than the old location, Rosen said the community reaction to the new store has been incredibly positive. “Everyone is super happy when they walk in and it’s definitely a good vibe coming in from the community for sure. There’s a bit of an optical illusion that it’s a bigger space but we actually lost 200 sq. ft.”
The Good Earth was in its last location for five years and before that, another location for “probably 11 or 12 years.” Rosen noted that sometimes in life, change comes and we have no choice but to adapt to it.
“Life was going great,” he said. “Five years in that location was way better than all the years in the old location but I had no thought whatsoever that things were going to be changing and then the building sells.”
Rosen said that he decided to “surrender to the universe” and see what came forth in terms of support and opportunity. With help from his family, Rosen was able to purchase his current building and start building a new home for The Good Earth.
“We get into these great grooves of comfort in life,” Rosen explained. “And it’s awesome because life is so groovy when we’re in that comfortable zone but it’s those moments that really shake us up, shake that comfortable zone up that put us in a position of fight or flight. This situation, I feel stepped me into my greatness. There’s no reason why I couldn’t create something amazing like this. Why not? I mean, I’ve done it. With great support and help but I’ve done it.”
Rosen added that the move has been very exciting for him since he’s been able to create a “boutique-type shop” to offer the community. As he looked at his shop with pride, Rosen stated, “this came out of me. I don’t know how, but this situation forced me to step into my greatness. I can’t describe it any better than that. And everyone who comes in feels it. The energy is here.”
