New name, new logo, same people.
That’s the idea behind Comox Bike Company, formally Simon’s Cycles at 1841 Comox Ave. in Comox, explained Craig Harris, one of the three new owners of the re-branded store.
“We’re all long-time employees, so it was a natural progression of our own careers,” said Harris, who along with Chip Murray and Craig Patrick purchased the store in July 2018 from Patti Fletcher and Simon Brampton.
He said ever since the transition, the response has been very positive within the community between returning and new customers.
“The change has been a fairly easy transition on us and our customers; we didn’t need to change a whole lot.”
Harris said the team looked at areas they could improve upon and wanted to ensure they were including clients who used e-bikes as well as mountain, commuter or road bikes. They also repair bikes and offer a variety of accessories.
“We are very family-oriented and want to help people from their kid’s first bike to a mountain bike – we don’t have just one specific client.”
Harris noted Fletcher and Brampton were heavily involved in giving back to the community, particularly with the annual YANA (You Are Not Alone) Ride – a fundraising ride of varying distances to support the non-profit which provides accommodation and funding to Comox Valley families who need to travel outside the community for medical treatment.

While they are currently in the planning stages with the organization, Harris said their intentions are to continue their collaborative partnership with YANA and he understands their value within the community.
Following the name change, the store needed a new logo, and the branding was also a collaborative effort.
“We all had input and we all tried to pick a logo. We used an example with the Comox Bike Company of water, trees and mountains, and it just stuck,” explained Harris of the predominantly black circle which features white lettering and clean lines within an inner circle.
“It’s very representative of where we’re from and everything we’re about.”
