Craft beer lovers, raise your pints.
A brand new outdoor festival is coming to Langley to celebrate local hops, local eats and Canada’s 150th birthday.
The Fort Langley Beer and Food Festival, taking place May 20 from noon to 5 p.m. at the Fort Langley National Historic Site’s orchard, will feature live music and up to 20 breweries and food vendors.
Presented by Trading Post Brewing Company, the goal of the festival is to highlight everything local. There will be beer from Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley breweries, and many food vendors from right here in Langley, including Fort Langley’s Lelem Arts & Cultural Cafe and Redwoods Golf Course’s new poutine food truck.
“Our business is here in Fort Langley, we also have a brewery in Langley, and one of our core values is community. And we feel that a festival is the perfect way to bring the community together here in Fort Langley,” said Lance Verhoeff, co-founder and general manager of Trading Post, during the festival launch on March 9.
The event will also serve as the launch of Trading Post’s new Canada 150 beer, made in collaboration with the Fort Langley National Historic Site.
“It will be an easy drinking Pale Ale and we want to focus on local ingredients and to celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday,” Verhoeff said.
Proceeds from the festival will benefit the Brewing Lab scholarship at Kwantlen Polytechnic University. The scholarship was created by Trading Post and named after John Mitchell, who is considered the grandfather of craft beer in Canada.
Early bird tickets are officially on sale today.
The festival is also looking for roughly 100 volunteers, who will receive many tasty perks for helping out.
