Langley Animal Protection Society is getting into the housing market with The Mews at ISOasis

Could this be the real estate investment for you?

The Langley Animal Protection Society (LAPS) is getting into the housing market with condos… for cats. On Saturday, May 6, LAPS will present The Mews at ISOasis condo project, complete with a real estate style presentation centre. Their fundraising campaign looks to complete the cat condos and required furnishings for their state-of-the-art feline isolation building nicknamed, ISOasis, a play on isolation oasis for the cats and kittens in their care.

Jamie Schreder of Schreder Brothers Real Estate Group with Royal LePage Wolstencroft has a soft spot for LAPS and has jumped on board, bringing his real estate expertise to this tongue-and-cheek fundraiser taking place Saturday, May 6.

“Now’s your opportunity to invest in this state-of-the-art building,” jokes Schreder. “Jokes aside, I’m excited to be participating. We will be writing offers, and walking donors through their options, which will include the opportunity to purchase upgrades and even leave with the keys to your new condo.”

The ISOasis project has been a few years in the making and has been made possible through donations from the community and support from the Township of Langley.

“We are very grateful for all of the support we have received to date,” says Jayne Nelson, executive director for LAPS.

Funding is in place for LAPS to break ground and complete the build this summer, but there are few finishings that will make life at the ISOasis complete.

A sheltering first in Canada, the ISOasis will provide much needed space for the care of sheltered cats and kittens in the community. This purpose-built facility will be located adjacent to their main shelter building in east Langley and will provide dedicated isolation space, cat condo suites, an intake room, and more to enhance the quality of life, reduce the time from intake to adoption, and limit the spread of feline related diseases.

Veterinarian and LAPS board chair, Kathryn Welsman notes the already high quality of care at LAPS will soon be more robust.

“The quality of care provided for all of our animals currently meets and often exceeds guidelines outlined by the Association of Shelter Veterinarians; the addition of the ISOasis will continue our track record for high standards in animal welfare,” said Welsman.

This one-day, family-friendly event will be held at LAPS, located at 26220 – 56 Ave. on Saturday, May 6 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Come and enjoy refreshments, entertainment, and learn more about the LAPS ISOasis project. Interested donors will be provided with a tax receipt, cat condo/room naming rights, and many cat cuddles.

Established in 2003, the Langley Animal Protection Society (LAPS) is a registered charitable organization providing sheltering and animal control services within the Township and City of Langley. A leader in animal welfare management, their mandate is to promote the physical, emotional and psychological well-being of companion animals in Langley through the use of professional and humane animal control methods and innovative animal welfare programs.

LAPS would also like to acknowledge and thank the Township of Langley, Mark and Pat Dumont, and the Shewan Foundation for their support of the ISOasis building.
