The Summerland Health Centre has a new x-ray machine thanks to the Summerland Health Care Auxiliary.
The $800,000 upgrade provides much sharper images and decreases the amount of time required for each x-ray.
Fundraising for the upgrade began in 2019, and the new unit was installed earlier this year.

The previous x-ray machine was more than 20 years old and had exceeded its lifespan by five years.
According to the South Okanagan Similkameen Medical Foundation, around 4,000 x-rays are done each year at the Summerland Health Centre.
The Summerland Health Care Auxiliary was formed in 1909 and over the years has funded many health-related projects in the community and in the region. These include providing furnishings for previous hospitals in Summerland and raising funds for the hospital tower at the Penticton Regional Hospital.
