The Comox Valley Regional District invites the public to learn more about the Comox No. 2 pump station project at a drop-in open house on Tuesday, June 21.

The open house will provide an overview of the project to date, the reasons for it proceeding, an update on current planning status, and a summary of information that is still needed and next steps for CVRD engineering staff.

“We know community interest in this pump station is very high for residents living in the Croteau Beach neighbourhood,” said Barbara Price, CVRD’s sewage commission chair. “However, there is also a need for all residents throughout Courtenay and Comox to better understand why this new infrastructure is needed to accommodate increased demand and protect the sensitive natural environment currently at risk.”

The pump station, which is proposed to be sited on a property on Beech Street, is needed to accommodate the re-routing of a wastewater forcemain running along Willemar bluff. It is set out as a key priority in the CVRD’s sewer master plan.

The open house will be held at the CVRD’s boardroom (550B Comox Rd., Courtenay) from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Residents from all areas are welcome to stop in at any time to review information and ask questions of the staff team, and engineering and environmental consultants.
