Nick La Riviere is no stranger to Golden, touring through last summer with The Paperboys.

As a talented trombonist, La Riviere picks up any horn instrument and plays it flawlessly.

This year, he returns with his own band, The Nick La Riviere Band touts original and groovy sounds that will fill the air with this full ensemble.

La Riviere has worked with many bands throughout the years, like The Paperboys, 54-40, Steven Page from the Barenaked Ladies, The Temptations, Michael Kaeshammer, Andonis Puentes, and Nikki Yanofsky. He is often one of Victoria’s busiest musicians, freelancing his talent out to other bands.

The band calls on influences from modern New Orleans, focusing on the horns section, and making sure everyone is having a good time. The wild horn solos, piano-based grooves, and melodic vocals features three vocals, trumpet, sax, trombone, guitar, piano/synth, bass, drums, and sometimes surprise additions like wine glasses or a conch.

This seven-piece band is sure to deliver big sound, and is one of those concerts you won’t want to miss.

The Nick La Riviere Band is joined on stage by David L’Hirondelle, who has long-term experience playing everything from backyard jams, to biker parties, to hole-in-the-wall bars, leading to his diverse range of musical style. L’Hirondelle also played Summer Kicks last summer, and recorded his 2016 album here in Golden.

The Nick La Riviere Band takes the stage at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 17 in Spirit Square. Arrive early for seats, or bring your own chair. Do some stretches, as this band is going to get you up and moving.
