The City of Revelstoke has filled one of three of its senior staff vacancies.

Nicole Fricot was hired to replace Alan Mason as the city’s community economic development officer, the city announced Wednesday morning.

Fricot is a Revelstoke resident who brings more than 10 years of experience in strategic planning, facilitation, project management, grant writing, research, project evaluation and communications for private and public organizations, said the city in a news release.

She has a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Calgary and a Bachelor degrees in education, human geography and women’s studies from the University of British Columbia.

“I am thrilled to be taking on this position and have the opportunity to continue the great work that Alan Mason has been doing,” she said. “I care deeply about our community and am eager to join the City of Revelstoke team in embracing the unique opportunities and specific challenges that we face as our community continues to grow.”

Since moving to Revelstoke with her partner Nico Leenders, the marketing manager for Revelstoke Mountain Resort, she has worked as a business strategist and consultant and has been involved in several local projects relating to economic development, community housing and more.

“We are very excited to welcome Nicole to the city,” said Mayor Mark McKee. “We consider ourselves lucky to have a candidate already vested in the economic development of the City of Revelstoke to fill the position. I have no doubt Nicole will be an asset to our organization and the residents of our community.”

Mason is retiring at the end of next week after 15 years with the City of Revelstoke.

The city is still looking for a director of finance and a director of development services.
