No new cases of COVID are being reported in the Golden area according to the BC CDC for the week of May 30 to June 5. It’s the first time since the week of March 21-27 that no new cases have been reported.
Case rates are declining or stable in all Health Areas according to the BC CDC, and provincially cases are at the lowest count since October 2020. Test positivity is also declining.
The BC CDC is also reporting that Golden has a 76 per cent vaccination coverage rate for the first dose in those 12+ as of June 7. This is above the provincial of average, which sits at approximately 70 per cent.
The coverage in those 18+ is 78 per cent in Golden, and 82 per cent for those 50+.
Second dose appointments are being booked following the same order of priority from the first dose rollout. Those who have already received their first dose can book an appointment approximately eight weels after their initial dose.

Interior Health is deploying mobile vacccination clinics in rural communities, such as Revelstoke, in order to help increase first dose coverage.
In the area, Revelstoke also has zero new cases of COVID, with Windermere reporting three. Cranbrook reported eight, Fernie two and Kimberley one.
Declining case counts province wide and rising vaccination rates means that the province is on track to move into Step 2 of the restart plan on track with June 15. This would see outdoor personal gatherings of up to 50 people, provincial travel restrictions lifted and liquor service until midnight.
Reaching each stage is contingent on vaccine rates staying high, case counts staying low and a continued drop in hospitalizations.
The full plan can be viewed at gov.bc.ca/restartBC.
Maps of new cases reported each week in each local health area can be found on the BC Centre for Disease Control website under BC COVID-19 data. Also available are graphs from the BCCDC Comparisons App showing how each health authority is doing in terms of positive test rates by month.
