School District 53 issued a press release  Friday suggesting parents make alternate arrangements for their school aged children for Tuesday, as schools apparently will not open on time on September 3

“We are encouraged that the BC Teachers’ Federation (BCTF) and the BC Public School Employers’ Association (BCPSEA) are meeting. However, we do not have confirmation that schools will be open on Tuesday, September 2. Consequently, at this point we ask parents and guardians to plan other arrangements for their children effective Tuesday, September 2,” Shool District 53  Chair Marieze Tarr reported.

If negotiations move forward during the weekend, the school district will communicate with parents and guardians through its website  at http://www.sd53.bc.ca/Home%20Page and through media.
