Nobel Prize nominee speaks in Nanaimo on the plight of Rohingya

Dr. Fozia Alvi tells of personal experiences helping Rohingya at Nanaimo speaking engagement

Dr. Fozia Alvi, a physician from Calgary will share her first-hand accounts of the struggles and resilience of the the Rohinghya people during an upcoming speaking engagement at the Vancouver Island Conference Centre.

Alvi, a Nobel Prize nominee who has also received the Paul Harris Award through Rotary Club International, is raising awareness of the plight of the Rohingya people. Her work includes highlighting the struggles of the Rohingya of Myanmar in Canada and abroad plus charitable work in Pakistan, Kenya and Bangladesh.

Alvi will speak at the Vancouver Island Conference Centre on Saturday, July 13, from 7-9 p.m.

Admission is free via online registration. The event will include snacks, tea and coffee and a cash bar and there will be time for interaction following the presentation.
