Nobody is hurt after a vehicle caught on fire on Davie Street across from Barkerville Brewery in Quesnel this morning.

Two fire engines, six fire fighters and an RCMP officer responded to the call at 11:14 a.m.

When they arrived, the vehicle, a red Pontiac Grand Prix GT, was engulfed in flames.

Two fire fighters wearing specialized masks extinguished the blaze using water and foam.

Duty Officer Roger Knorr confirms the driver, who was the sole occupant of the car, escaped unharmed.

“The driver said the vehicle quit on him,” Knorr says. “He tried to start it back up and next thing he knew, flames were up.”

The blaze was so hot that the front tires were melted and the paint job around the engine was severely blackened.
