Nominate a 'civic treasure'

Nominate a ‘civic treasure’

Deadline for city's cultural awards is June 6.

Do you know someone who dedicates their time and passion and demonstrates that Surrey values its arts and heritage? Someone who has a strong connection to the city and contributes to the appreciation and development of culture?

Nominations are now being accepted for the 2011 Surrey Civic Treasures award.

The program was established three years ago after Surrey was designated a Cultural Capital of Canada. Al Cleaver, Chris Thornley and Dave Proznick were honoured with the title last year.

This year’s nominations must be submitted by June 6. To make a nomination, provide a 300-word submission of the nominee and outline his/her accomplishments and contributions. Provide references to other individuals who may be able to provide further support, as well as providing the name, address and contact information for the nominee, and your name and contact information.

Nominations can be sent to: 2011 Civic Treasures Award, Surrey Arts Centre, 13750 88 Ave., Surrey, B.C. V3W 3L1, or email arts@surrey.ca

For further information, contact the city’s manager of arts services at 604-501-5566.
