A non-fatal single vehicle accident on Santa Rosa Road near Christina Lake occurred on Sept. 19 at 1:55 p.m.
The 37-year-old male driver from Vancouver was driving a Dodge pickup truck, towing a trailer, when it went over an embankment on the second switch back on a straight stretch of the road.
The vehicle began pulling over to make way for vehicle traffic travelling in the opposite direction when the incident occurred.
“It appears he got into the loose gravel and over he went,” said Grand Forks RCMP Staff Sgt. Jim Harrison. “The driver of the vehicle was taken to the hospital for treatment.”
Christina Lake Fire Chief Ken Gresley-Jones noted that the jaws-of-life were needed to extricate the people trapped in the vehicle.
“It was a routine rescue for us and everybody turned out to be in fairly good shape,” said Gresley-Jones.
