Mark Ruttan, North Cowichan’s long-time director of corporate affairs, is no longer with the municipality.

Mayor Al Siebring said Ruttan, 55, intends to take early retirement.

He said he couldn’t discuss details of Ruttan’s departure as it’s a personnel matter which can’t be discussed in public.

“Karen Robertson has been appointed as the municipality’s new director of corporate affairs,” Siebring said.

Ruttan couldn’t be reached for comment to discuss his early retirement, and what his plans are for the future.

Ruttan was making $146,744 a year with North Cowichan, according to financial statements from the municipality.
