North Delta crime beat: week of July 10

A selection of property crimes submitted weekly by the Delta Police Department

The purpose of the crime beat is to educate and inform the public about some of the property crime trends occurring in North Delta and other files of interest. It is submitted weekly by the Delta Police Department. If you see anything occurring that you believe to be suspicious, call 911 for in progress crimes and emergencies or 604-946-4411 for other assistance.

The following are some of the calls Delta Police responded to in the previous week:

• July 10, 1:00 p.m., 9400-block 118 St.: Complainant reported that sometime overnight two generators were stolen from their open carport. It was noted that the generators were very heavy and would take multiple people and a vehicle to steal. The generators were valued at approximately $3,000 each.

• July 10, 2:15 p.m., 800-block Cliveden Ave.: Complainant made a late report that nine batteries had been stolen from work vehicles parked on company property on June 29 and July 7. The estimated value of the batteries is $1,800.

• July 10, 3:25 p.m., 11100-block 84th Ave.: Police were dispatched to a suspicious circumstance following a report that an unidentified male and female were selling perfume in the parking lot. The individuals left the parking lot before police attended and no licence plate was obtained by the complainant.

• July 11, 2:23 p.m., 7000-block 120th St.: Complainant reported that their bike had been stolen from a bike rack where it had been locked up at Scottsdale Mall. The bike was a black and green Rocky Mountain Bike with a custom sticker on the frame. The bike is valued at approximately $300.

• July 12, 10:00 p.m., 11500-block 85th Ave.: Complainant reported that sometime overnight their vehicle that was parked on the street outside their residence was stolen. While the report was being made, the vehicle was recovered and undamaged with both licence plates still attached, and a suspect was taken into custody.

• July 13, 11:01 a.m., 11300-block Kendall Way: Complainant reported that a teenage male wearing a backpack had entered their neighbour’s yard, stealing two unknown items. Police attended and confirmed that a Canadian Tire battery charger was stolen from outside the vehicle.

• July 16, 10900-block Norum Pl.: Complainant called to report the theft of their vehicle stolen from outside of their residence. Surveillance showed that the theft occurred at 12:25 a.m. when two unknown suspects entered the unlocked vehicle and immediately drove away. The vehicle was recovered that same day at the 8400-block of 112th Street.
