North Delta crime beat: week of May 29

A selection of property crimes submitted weekly by the Delta Police Department

The purpose of the crime beat is to educate and inform the public about some of the property crime trends occurring in North Delta and other files of interest. It is submitted weekly by the Delta Police Department. If you see anything occurring that you believe to be suspicious, call 911 for in progress crimes and emergencies or 604-946-4411 for other assistance.

The following are some of the calls Delta Police responded to in the previous week:

• May 29, 1:07 p.m., 10300-block of Nordel Crt: A business reported the theft of six trailers valued at $12,000 per unit. The complainant indicated it was not uncommon for customers to remove trailers and fail to return them, however this was longer than normal and a police file number was required for insurance purposes.

• May 30, 9:11 a.m., 10500-block of Delsom Cres: Complainant reported their vehicle had been broken into sometime overnight while parked in front of their residence. The vehicle was likely left unlocked as it was not damaged. Items stolen included a $300 Gramin GPS and various membership cards. All membership cards were cancelled.

• May 30, 3:15 p.m., 9100-block of 116th St: Complainant reported their bicycle was left locked in the bike rack at the school and when they returned they found the lock broken and the bicycle missing. The bicycle, valued at $1,100, is described as a black Trek Marlin mountain bike with red accents. Information on the bicycle was added to the police computer database.

• May 31, 10:40 a.m., 900-block of Cliveden Ave: A report received that sometime overnight while a truck was parked at a business two batteries and all the associated wiring were stolen. The batteries, valued at $3,000, were to operate an electric lift gate on the truck. No suspects or witnesses.

• June 2, 6:30 a.m., 8800-block of 118A St: A seniors home reported a break-in had occurred sometime overnight. Entry was gained to the premises through a rear window by removing the screen. Forced entry was then made to the office area and the freezers. Items stolen include a television, DVD player, laptop, $300 cash, and a large quantity of meats. Total loss estimated at $3,000.

• June 4, 2:47 a.m., 8500-block of River Rd: A business reported someone had broken into the fenced compound and was stealing metal from the workplace. The police attended, locating three suspects and recovering hundreds of pounds of stolen metal. Two suspects found to have outstanding warrants. All three suspects were arrested and then released on a promise to appear in court.

• June 4, 2:39 p.m., 9200-block of 120th St: Complainant reported that just prior to noon while they were working someone had entered their unlocked vehicle and stolen their $400 Michael Kors brown purse. The purse contained various personal and bank cards and $400 in cash. Complainant cancelled all credit cards and confirmed no charges were made on the cards.
