Three accidents due to slippery conditions took place on the North Road last week. One low-bed semi truck slid off the road at 52 km, and a loaded logging truck slid off the road at 27 km as well on Thursday, Jan. 5.
The driver was taken to the hospital to be examined, but the extent of his injuries was not reported.
On Jan. 6, a tanker truck also left the road around 25 km.
Yellowhead Road and Bridge said they have three graders working on the road and sand trucks, but the weather conditions were making the road difficult regardless. They also reported they had sanded the entire length of the road on Jan. 5.
Trucks are still recommended to chain up to help maintain as much traction as possible on the icy sections.
The road was reported as a “skating rink” by one driver.
