North Westside firefighters were scrambling Friday.
At 9:35 a.m., firefighters responded to a vehicle flipped over in the 8500 block of Westside Road.
“Driver reported hitting a deer and loosing control,” said Jason Satterthwaite, North Westside fire chief.
Paramedics took the motorist to Vernon Jubilee Hospital with minor injuries.
And just as the volunteer firefighters were returning to the hall, they were called out to a fire above Westshore Road at 11:45 a.m.
“Crews were lead by a pair of dirt bikers in the forest area,” said Satterthwaite.
“A single burning tree was found 2 kilometres in the bush. Crews were quickly able to extinguish the flames.”
It’s not known if the fire was human caused or started by lightning.
