Drive with zero, not little, drinks

Impaired driving incidents recently increased with the beginning of Christmas and seasonal festivities.

Enforcement and efforts to investigate drivers who drank will go up, through road blocks and other measures by general duty and traffic unit officers.

The RCMP encourage party-goers to arrange for a sober designated driver, instead of an individual who consumed the least amount of alcohol in the group.

Repeat offenders persist

Probation and bail violation numbers stay consistent, despite the seasonal lower overall number of lodged files. The RCMP continues to execute multiple warrants for repeat offenders who breached court orders.

Vanderhoof’s crime reduction program, led by Cpl. Cam Fergusson, aims to give three options to the community’s small percentage of offenders: a) change what they are doing and become a productive member of society, b) go back to jail, or c) move out of the town.

Report ASAP

Several calls for property offences were received by the local detachment this week.

With number of incidents decreased from earlier this season, the RCMP encourage community members to reports as soon as possible to give the police the best opportunity possible to investigate and locate suspects.
