Oak Bay driver faces charges

Police responded to report of hit-and-run collision in the Neil Street and Foul Bay area

An Oak Bay man faces charges of failing to remain at the scene of an accident and impaired driving after several vehicles were hit the night of Nov. 10.

Around 10 p.m. Oak Bay police responded to a report of a hit and run collision on Neil Street by Foul Bay Road. A white Dodge pick-up side-swiped a parked Nissan truck, police said, and the impact tore the front bumper off the Dodge truck.

The driver did not stop and turned onto Foul Bay Road striking a car at the intersection. The driver continued north. As Oak Bay Police attended, Saanich Police were dispatched to a report of a white Dodge truck striking six vehicles then stopping in the 3500-block of Richmond Road. Police apprehended a 50-year-old Oak Bay man in the Saanich area and recommend charges for failing to remain at the scene of an accident, impaired driving, and driving over the legal limit. No injuries were reported.
