Oceanside RCMP perform CPR after man found in stalled car

Driver, 84, taken to hospital

Members of the RCMP Central Vancouver Island Traffic Services and Oceanside RCMP attended after a vehicle was reported stalled on the Island Highway in front of the Beach Club Resort in Parksville on Thursday, Dec. 24.

Officers approached the vehicle and found the driver, an 84-year-old Parksville man, was in medical distress and had stopped breathing.

Officers quickly removed the man from the car and began CPR while waiting for BC Ambulance Services. They also made use of a defibrillator. The man was taken to hospital, with no word on his condition.
