Stranger at the door

A man tried, and failed, to enter a residence on Reid Drive after seeing a young person through the window on Oct. 5.

At about 1 p.m., a youth at home saw the unknown individual on a neighbour’s driveway when the man, seeing the youth, proceeded to the house, trying to enter and kicking the front door.

The youth then sought refuge in the laundry room, letting the family dog loose within the house. Hearing the dog, the man fled the scene.

No items were reported missing from the area during that time.

The man sports waist-long brown hair, a blue hoodie, grey shorts, and rubber boots. He was driving a light blue Dodge minivan.

For timelier help, the police encourages all to not be afraid to call the emergency line immediately when necessary.

“If you feel that your safety is in jeopardy, that’s when you should call 9-1-1,” Sgt. Svend Nielsen said.

Motorbike theft from garage

On Oct. 4, a black Kawasaki 2002 KX 250 dirt bike was taken from a residence on Vanderview Drive at about 7:45 p.m.

At the time, the owner noticed the garage light automatically turning on due to its motion sensor, and heard a vehicle going onto the driveway. With no ignition sound heard, the bike is suspected to have been loaded onto a vehicle

No suspects and vehicles are known so far, and anyone with information can contact the RCMP at the local office or through CrimeStoppers.

Abandoned vehicle to be removed

A grey and black pickup truck abandoned at Striegler Pit for two months will be taken care of with assistance from local service groups. The police currently has no authority to remove the vehicle.
