Vernon RCMP are looking for a cross-dressing robber.
A man dressed in women’s clothing made off with an undisclosed amount of cash from the Interior Savings Credit Union in the 4300 block of 32nd Street Thursday at around 4:30 p.m.
“The man was a Caucasian dressed as a female, who approached a teller with a note,” said Gord Molendyk, Vernon RCMP spokesperson.
“He was perhaps wearing a wig and women’s sunglasses, and there is some indication he had a purse.”
The man, who was wearing a red and black knee-length sun dress and women’s slip-on shoes, was observed fleeing towards the railway tracks.
A police dog tracked a scent to a location where it appears the suspect got into a vehicle and took off.
The man is described as being between five-foot-seven and six-feet tall, with a slim build and brown-to-darker-blond hair.
Nobody was hurt during the robbery.
