The wind was blowing, the waves were high and smoke from forest fires filled the air on Aug. 18.
But despite less than ideal conditions, the Ogopogo Bathtub race still managed to raise $27,045 for the South Okanagan Similkameen Medical Foundation, bringing their total to date to $102,000.

Started by the Summerland Yacht Club in 2015, the Bathtub Race has nearly doubled their original goal of raising $60,000 for the medical foundation’s campaign to provide equipment for the $312 million Penticton Regional Hospital expansion David Kampe Tower.
The race will be back next year, organizers say, with an anticipated date of Aug. 17.
