Cobs celebrates 10th anniversary in Penticton with sandwich competition

Quality Greens deli manager Marla McFarland collected top honours this week at the sandwich-making competition, part of the Cobs Bread 10th anniversary celebrations at Riverside Mall.

Celebrity judge Mayor John Vassilaki selected McFarland’s multi-grain bread, veggie-lover delight with fresh vegetables and a variety of spices as his first choice.

The contest featured members of the Riverside Village stores competing against one another at the outside stations in front of the Cobs location.

The event was all about giving back to the community that included a by-donation barbecue and sandwich sale.

Cobs chose HooDoo Adventures Youth Outdoor Recreation Society as the beneficiaries of this year’s event.

HooDoo’s Mike Hill was among the competitors, finishing in the top three.

Jasel and Nicole Peters are the family team behind COBS Penticton and own the Kelowna COBS and Vernon COBS bakeries as well.
