The Penticton Community Centre’s aquatic facilities will be closed from Aug. 10 to Sept. 2 for annual maintenance.

According to City of Penticton facilities supervisor Chris Schmidt , the work is preventative in nature and involves all areas of aquatics including pools, steam room, hot tub, change rooms and mechanical components.

It also includes inspecting for damage and executing any major repairs and upgrades.

“The annual pool shutdown is an important part of the ongoing planned maintenance at the aquatic facility,” said Schmidt in a news release. “It aids in keeping the pool functional and helps reduce maintenance-related service impacts throughout the other times of the year.”

While the aquatic facilities are not open, the recently maintained fitness room is available for public use as well as other programming at the centre.
