Okanagan College president Jim Hamilton has been recognized by Colleges and Institutes Canada.
Hamilton has been presented with the distinguished service award.
“This year’s recipient of the distinguished service award and Outstanding Partner Award has been involved in promoting excellence in post-secondary education for many years,” said Denise Amyot, CICan president.
Hamilton began his career with Okanagan College in 1980, teaching English at its Vernon campus. Prior to becoming president, he was actively engaged in the college, serving as a member of the Okanagan University College board, a faculty member, and as the regional dean of the North Okanagan.
He became president of Okanagan College in 2004, and his term was recently extended to 2017. He serves as chairperson of the B.C. Council for International Education.
