The Okanagan School of the Arts has found a new home in Penticton.
The group was given until the end of August to vacate the Shatford Centre. Since June the arts school has been looking for a new host building, as it was announced their lease at the Shatford Centre would not be extended.
The group announced today (July 30) they have found a new home, at Cowork Penticton.
They say having a home base in “such a vibrant, collaborative environment” will allow them to plan for a revitalized future.
“We’re moving into a new era for the OSA, and returning to our roots at the same time,” said executive director Kim Palmer.
“When our founders began offering classes and workshops in the 1960s, the OSA used spaces and rooms throughout Penticton. We’ll be returning to this nomadic model. Having an office at Cowork is ideal, as it will give us a stable base from which to launch our renewed vision.”
Board president Keith MacIntyre says their new space, Cowork Penticton, has been an important asset to the community since they opened.
“It is where great connections are made and has been a source of many great collaborations in Penticton and beyond. Cowork Penticton is a great home for us as we look towards the future,” said MacIntyre.
The organization says they will continue to offer unique arts programs while closely following the direction of health experts.
