One arrested after Kelowna police swarm home

Police were seen with their guns drawn outside the home

One person is in custody after police swarmed a home on Highway 97, Wednesday afternoon.

According to Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey, RCMP responded with an abundance of caution to a 911 emergency call of a disturbance inside a near the intersection of Harvey Avenue and Richter Street.

“Police were initially told that a weapon was involved in the dispute between two individuals who were known to each other,” he said.

One person was arrested and another was taken to hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Alcohol was involved in the dispute, said O’Donaghey.

Police surrounded a home on Highway 97 and Richter, Wednesday afternoon.

According to witnesses, officers had their guns drawn and the canine unit at the scene.

The incident started just before 3 p.m. and police were seen leaving the home about 3:20 p.m.
