One case of COVID-19 in Agassiz-Harrison for second week straight

Vaccination rates among 18-49 demographic bumps up slightly

Agassiz-Harrison has seen another low week for COVID-19 transmission.

According to the B.C. Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC), there was just one new case of COVID-19 from June 20 to June 26, marking a second straight week of single-case transmission.

The average week in 2021 sees about 6.3 cases of COVID-19 per week in the Agassiz-Harrison local health area.

According to the most recent vaccination data released June 28, vaccination rates for Agassiz-Harrison have remained largely the same since the last update four days before. 72 per cent of Agassiz-Harrison residents over the age of 12 have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine; 74 per cent of those over the age of 18 have received at least one dose.

The 18-49 age group lags behind but has grown from 58 to 59 per cent in the last four days of data. Those aged 50 and older remain ahead of the average at 84 per cent with no change from the last four recorded days. According to a report from District of Kent council, there are up to 372 doses of the vaccine being administered weekly at the Agassiz Agricultural Hall.

It has been nearly a month since the Glenwood Care Centre outbreak began. The latest BCCDC report, released on June 23, states there are eight cases connected with this outbreak – five residents and three staff members. There are no deaths associated with this outbreak.

There are no new exposures in Fraer-Cascade School District 78.
