One person killed in Crowfoot Mountain avalanche

Shuswap Search and Rescue (SAR) now working to recover the body of a snowmobiler caught in an avalanche Sunday morning near Chase.

Shuswap Search and Rescue (SAR) now working to recover the body of a snowmobiler, who is believed to have been caught in an avalanche Sunday morning near Chase.

SAR, along with Kamloops Search and Rescue received a call around 11:45 a.m. that an avalanche had come down in the area of the Crowfoot Mountain Snowmobile Club. There were reports of three sledders out, but one person had been caught up in the sliding snow.

The BC Coroner’s service has been called in to investigate.

Crowfoot Mountain is a popular snowmobiling area north of Shuswap Lake and about 36 kilometres from Chase.
