The City of Parksville is inviting all residents interested in learning more about the proposed supportive housing project on Corfield Street to attend a drop-in neighbourhood open house Tuesday, March 20, from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Parksville Community and Conference Centre.
The Oceanside Task Force on Homelessness is leading the development of City of Parksville and Regional District of Nanaimo-owned land located at 222 Corfield Street South. BC Housing is proposing to develop approximately 50 units of permanent supportive housing, and announced $6.9 million in funding for the project during an event held in Parksville March 9.
Island Crisis Care Society has been selected as the future operator of the housing for people experiencing homelessness. ICCS, in partnership with BC Housing and the Oceanside Task Force on Homelessness, will host Tuesday’s drop-in open house to share information about the project and its future operations, the city announced.
Following the March 9 funding announcement, the city sent letters to residents that announced the open house and addressed some frequently asked questions.
Residents may attend at any time during the scheduled 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. session. The PCCC is located at 132 Jensen Ave. E.
