It’s a downtown hub for parents and families that’s fun and welcoming.
Chilliwack Community Services officially opened Downtown Family Place in a new location with a grand opening celebration inside Central elementary on Monday July 22.
“Downtown Family Place is a key service in building strong families, investing in children and enhancing skills for that most important, challenging and rewarding job, being a parent,” said Diane Janzen, executive director of Chilliwack Community Services, in a release.
Drop-in services are free and focused on early learning and school readiness, as well as parenting skills.
“It will also ensure that children on the north side of the freeway have access to services that build learning, social, physical and emotional development in those very important early years and ensure that they are ready for kindergarten.”
The Downtown Family Place is one of six such programs run by CCS.
Family Place can help parents navigate services, referring them to services in the community, and offering opportunities for parent-child attachment, play-based learning and up-to-date parent education on a range of topics.
CCS recognized partners including School District 33, Chilliwack Central Elementary Community School Society, Sardis Doorway for Mothers and Children and Stó:lō Nation, as well as funding partner, Ministry of Children and Family Development.
