Operation Red Nose is up and running in Williams Lake for the third weekend in a row.
Co-ordinator Dave Dickson said people can call 25-392-2222 for rides between 9 p.m. and 3 a.m. Friday and Saturday evening.
“They must have a vehicle to be eligible to ride with us,” Dickson said. “We’ve still had to turn half a dozen people away each night that don’t have a vehicle. But we cannot do that because in good conscience we don’t want to compete with the taxi companies.”
Last weekend the service provided 81 rides for 174 people. The weekend before they gave 48 rides, transporting 115 people.
The campaign kicked off Friday, Nov. 30, based out of Heartland Toyota and will continue next weekend on Dec. 21, 22 and on Dec. 31.
Rides are by donation with all proceeds going to four local groups — The Williams Lake Blue Fins Swim Club, Cariboo Chilcotin Gymnastics Association, Cariboo Chilcotin Youth Fiddlers and Camp Likely.
