Intermittent lane closures on the Trans-Canada Highway as a part of Phase 4 of the Kicking Horse Canyon Project are expected to ramp up this week, according to the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure.
Full overnight closures are expected to start on Monday, March 29, from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning. There will also be evening closures during this time from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m.
This will be in effect until April 10.
During this time, traffic will be re-routed through Radium via highways 93 and 95.
There will be no closures or stoppages during the Easter long weekend, starting on Thursday, April 12 at noon until Tuesday, April 16 at noon.
Intermittent lane closures are already in effect on the highway and will be extending until April 10, when overnight closures commence. These closures tend to be 1.5 – 2 hours long.
MOTI says that these closures will be well-signed and traffic control personel will be present to direct traffic as required.
Full details are online, with MOTI recommending motorists check DriveBC to know before you go and for up to date information on closures during this time.
The full lane closure were planned and a traffic management plan in coordination with local stakeholders in order to minimize disruptions to travel in peak travel seasons.
