Pacific Insight will end all production at its facility outside Nelson by the end of April.
Kristine Walczak, vice president of corporate communications at Pacific Insight’s parent company Methode, said Wednesday that all commercial vehicle production will be transferred to its operation in Monterrey, Mexico,
It’s not clear how many jobs are being lost in the latest round of layoffs. Pacific Insight cut part of its workforce in October, and at the time Walczak said about 100 people would be kept on.
Methode also closed down Pacific Insight’s engineering office in Burnaby on Tuesday. Walczak said the company is looking at its options for the future of its building on Highway 3A.
Pacific Insight, which designs and builds lighting and electronics for the automotive industry, has operated in Nelson since 1989.
The company was purchased by Chicago-based Methode in August 2017 for approximately $144 million, a deal that included a promise that it would not make changes to the workforce.
