The Peninsula Panthers lost their home opener this past Friday night to the Westshore Wolves, 8-2.

The Panthers, a young new team, were down 4-0 after the first frame but seemed to gather their footing in the second period. Although the team trailed 7-1 after the second, they actually outshot the Westshore Wolves 11-7 and 9-5 in the second and third periods.

Veteran Rylan Ball scored both markers for the Panthers while Kyle Richter paced the Wolves with two goals. Six other Wolves notched single markers.

New Head Coach Grant Sjerven said he will make adjustments this week as the Panthers get set to take on the Victoria Cougars Friday night at 7:30 at  Panorama.

“The Wolves scored five power-play goals and a shorty so obviously that is something we cannot allow,” Sjerven said.
