A two-vehicle collision on Highway 19A at Moilliet Street in Parksville early Tuesday afternoon caused extensive backups in traffic southbound on Highway 19A.
The incident, reported shortly before noon on April 17, drew response from Oceanside RCMP, Parksville Volunteer Fire Department and the B.C. Ambulance Service.
Parksville assistant fire chief Mike Tisdelle said he wasn’t sure if anyone was transported from the scene by ambulance, but paramedics were on scene and checking out the people involved in the accident. He said there were five people involved between the two vehicles.
“It looked like one vehicle struck the other vehicle from the rear,” said Tisdelle, adding that he believed both vehicles had to be towed.
Traffic was single lane heading southbound while crews worked to clear the scene.
