Help raise crucial funds this weekend for 25-year-old Aimee Pope’s battle with cancer.
Pope attended Parksville Elementary, Springwood Middle and Ballenas High Schools, and has worked in Parksville since graduation, explains Stephanie Peters, who said Pope is like a second daughter.
“It’s difficult to sum up a person in just a few words, but I have to tell you that Aimee is one of the ‘good guys.'” Peters e-mailed The NEWS. “She’s one of the kindest and most responsible people I’ve ever met: she has a huge heart, oodles of creativity and a passion for justice and animal welfare.”
“I’ve seen her make the world a much better place during her first 25 years, and have no doubt that being able to beat cancer will only strengthen her resolve and positive impact on our community.”
Pope has had to leave a job she loves, and her family has to travel for treatment, Peters said. There are a lot of new expenses, and many of her medications are not covered by government insurance.
A group, including Pope, will be serving burgers, homemade baked goods and beverages during Joe Cunningham Ford’s Beach Days at the dealership from Thursday, June 25 through Saturday, June 27.
Ford is picking up the tab and all workers will be volunteers, so every penny will go towards Pope’s expenses.
Come down with an appetite, and let your family, friends and colleagues know about this event.
