Paving to close access to Highway 19A to Corfield Street

Closures are expected from June 14- 16

  • Jun. 14, 2018 12:00 a.m.

The access to Highway 19A to Corfield Street in Parksville will be closed for paving between Highway 19A and Jensen Avenue starting on Thursday, June 14.

Paving is estimated to take two days to complete and will start at approximately 6 a.m. each day by the paving contractor, Haylock Bros. Paving.

According to a press release from the City of Parksville, the contractor will make their best efforts to keep at least one access open on Corfield Street, but given the nature of the paving work it may be difficult to achieve. Paving on these days is estimated to be complete by lunchtime with access to Corfield plaza being opened as soon as possible.

Prior to paving, contractor Locar Industries will be focusing on preparing the road base.

They will be applying crushed aggregate and grading the road for paving. Other contractors working on Corfield Street include an irrigation and landscaping company. BC Hydro, Telus and Shaw Cable have completed their work and subsequently removed the wooden utility poles which were required to complete the curb and gutter work and paving.

During construction, traffic will be controlled in all directions for both cars and pedestrians. In order for this work to be completed, interruptions are expected to traffic flow and intermittent alternating single-lane usage.

Project updates will be posted on the City’s website at www.parksville.ca.
