It’s been a busy year for Peach City Radio, including the milestone of obtaining a broadcast license from the CRTC and the group is inviting radio society members and the general public to come together for a recap and a look at future plans.

The 2015 Annual General Meeting of the Peach City Community Radio Society (PCCRS) will be held on Nov. 3 at the Penticton Museum/Library auditorium with registration opening at 5:30 p.m. for anyone interesting in renewing or becoming a member.

Guest speaker Chris Walker, host of Daybreak South on CBC Radio 1, will start the proceedings at 6 p.m., with the main meeting to follow at 6 p.m. Walker is an award-winning journalist and broadcaster, whose career began in B.C. and has taken him as far as Cairo, covering human rights, politics and business in Egypt and throughout the Middle East.   He is passionate about radio, and is eager to have the opportunity to speak to the membership about how community radio can have an impact in Penticton.

During the AGM portion of the evening, PCCRS directors will present information about progress this past year, along with some insight into upcoming projects and initiatives.

2015 has been a banner year with much to celebrate for the community radio society. In May, the group’s low-power FM broadcast application was approved by the CRTC, bringing CFUZ and community radio closer to reality for Penticton.

Anyone interested in getting involved is encouraged to attend to find out about upcoming volunteer opportunities such as becoming a radio show host, programming, promotion and fundraising.
