Within the past two weeks, Comox Valley RCMP has responded to five motor vehicle collisions involving pedestrians or cyclists – a reminder for all using the road to slow down, says the detachment’s media relations spokeswoman.
Const. Monika Terragni explains while nobody suffered any life-threatening injuries as a result of the incidents, they should serve as a reminder to be careful on roadways, particularly this time of the year.
“The change in the weather and the change in our daylight hours bring about some different driving conditions and all drivers, pedestrians and cyclists need to be prepared.”
She notes in the winter, it is especially important to drive and/or cycle for the conditions presented by the weather.
“The posted speed limit is for optimal driving conditions, so if you are travelling in a rainstorm or a snowstorm, we expect you to slow down.”
